What To Take On City Breaks

Comfortable Clothes

City breaks require comfortable outfits which also look stylish. You don’t want to be shivering in a bulky coat or sliding around on the cobbles in heels.

One pair of trousers or jeans and a couple of tops should be enough for a few days. Dressier tops that can be teamed with a skirt will save space and allow you to dress up for an evening meal.

Toiletries

There’s always one person who turns up to holiday with a suitcase that looks like it could hold everything but the kitchen sink! To avoid packing too much for a city break, try to stick to a carry-on suitcase and a handbag packed with the essentials.

Ensure your wardrobe is versatile with dresses that work for days of strolling cobbled streets and nights out sipping cocktails. Bring a pair of jeans with you and a light jacket for chillier climates.

Shoes

The best shoes for city breaks are comfortable, flat ones that won’t make your feet want to chop off after a day of walking. They’ll also look stylish when you’re out and about on a night out.

Glamorous heels are OK for evenings but if you’re going to be doing lots of sightseeing you’ll want something more practical, like wedges or sparkly flats.

Sun protection

The most important thing to take on a city break, especially during the summer, is sun protection. Not only can UV rays cause painful burns, but prolonged exposure increases the risk of skin cancer later in life. Make sure you pack sunscreen with a high SPF, a hat and sunglasses.

Also, a light packaway raincoat is a good idea to bring in case the weather changes quickly. These are easy to pack and hold up well in a suitcase.
